| Do your loads require a second cycle? Well, chances are it is due to your dryer vent being clogged. This leads to multiple cycles, increased engery usage, higher costs, overheated dryers, and most importantly a risk of fire. Fires can start from within the vent and actually are quite a common cause of household fires.
Also, the exhaust from dryers flows through the same vent, and if it is clogged, the carbon monoxide emitted can back up into the house. This gas is colorless, odorless, and may go undetected because it causes flu like symptons without the fever. Babies, toddlers, and elderly are most susceptible to the danger.
In 2006, the National Fire Prevention Bureau posted the following statistics:
- 10 deaths
- 17,300 fires
- 410 injuries
- $118 million in property damage
Another interesting fact for new dryer owners:
Warranties on new dryers do not cover the repair or replacement if the dryer overheats due to a clogged dryer vent. So make sure the vent is cleaned prior to usage of a new dryer.
The method used keeps the technician outside of the house, although it may be necessary to look at the dryer depending on the situation. Products used are approved by NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association). This is not a brush attached to a drill, either. It is a pneumatic process performed with air hoses and a compressor. Electrical outlet will be required, and lint will be cleaned up from the yard.

Additional $25 for roof access or 2nd floor outside wall outlet
Additional $25 for bird nest removal; these take much more time and bird excrement is toxic to humans
